Jesus Christ has what we call the “hypostatic union.” This means that in the one person of Jesus Christ, there are two distinct natures: one divine and one human. These natures are united in a single person without mixing or altering each other. So, Jesus is fully God and fully man at the same time, and these two natures coexist perfectly without conflict.
Two Separate Natures: Jesus has both a divine nature (as the Son of God) and a human nature (as a man). The divine nature is eternal and uncreated, while the human nature started when Jesus was born of Mary.
Unity Without Confusion: These two natures are united in such a way that they don’t lose their distinct properties. This means that while Jesus experienced human emotions and limitations like hunger and tiredness, His divine nature remained all-powerful and all-knowing.
No Conflict Between Natures: There is no conflict between these two natures. Even though it might seem like His human experiences could lead to tension, like when He prayed in Gethsemane, it doesn’t mean there was a conflict between His divine will and His human will. Instead, it shows the true experience of being fully human while also being fully divine.
Conclusion: Jesus had two separate but united natures that coexisted without conflict.
