THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BELIEVER’S VICTORY IN CHRIST

Too often, pastors and ministers of the gospel present the believer as someone still struggling to escape the dominion of the evil one. But this is a distortion of the truth. Yes, discipleship must be emphasized, but never at the expense of the believer’s liberty in Christ. Projecting the power of the devil over the believer is not biblical.

The Apostle Paul tells us plainly: “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15). The devil is already defeated. And in Christ, we have been raised far above his reach: “God raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). This is the believer’s position—seated with Christ, not pressed beneath by Satan.

So, what then is this constant obsession with “spiritual warfare”? Sadly, many Christians today are not threatened by demons, but by fearful messages from pulpits. Too many ministers have sold fear instead of freedom, ignoring the truth of Scripture: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Dear believer, hear this truth: you have far more promises of victory than you could ever imagine. God never promised us a life free from challenges, but He did promise His abiding presence. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:2).

That you face difficulties, sickness, or trials right now is not evidence of some missed “spiritual flight” orchestrated in a particular church. No! Life carries its share of struggles. But in every single one, God makes victory available: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Therefore, beloved, be strong and of good courage. Do not live in fear. Take hold of what the Scripture says about you: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
Peace to you!
